Support my challenge for kids facing cancer.

Every month in Australia, 90 children are diagnosed with cancer.

For those families, their lives are changed forever. Cancer puts families under enormous pressure. It can feel like it’s impossible to hold it together.

This May, I am taking part in the Heartbreak to Hope Walk to raise funds for Redkite to provide emotional, financial and practical support and care to families facing childhood cancer.

Please sponsor me by making a donation to support my walk.

Together, we can show these children and their families that they don't have to face cancer alone and support them as they face the toughest time of their lives.

Thank you.

Williams story

Wednesday 14th May
On Thursday 17th March 2022 our lives took a dramatic turn my brave son William faced a life-changing diagnosis. Within mere days Williams body began to exhibit changes prompting us to seek medical attention at the hospital where he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukaemia. William was swiftly transported to the Queensland Children hospital where scans revealed presence of masses on his chest liver and spleen. The oncologist shared with us the urgent need for a Lumber puncture and Bone marrow aspirate to determine the exact type of ALL he was fighting but the mass on his chest posed a high-risk challenge. We were presented with two options administer chemotherapy to break down the mass potentially compromising the accuracy of his diagnosis or proceed with the high-risk procedure to obtain precise answers. I made the courageous decision to proceed with the procedure and I am eternally grateful for the clarity it brought as William was diagnosed with T-cell ALL necessitating a distinct chemotherapy protocol.

William's recovery from the procedure was uncomplicated, and a nurse greeted me with a large red bag, courtesy of Redkite, which was thoughtfully prepared with everything necessary for our hospital stay. This bag was a valuable resource, and I utilized it for all our hospital stays over the next three years. Redkite also provided significant financial assistance, including payment of phone bills and car registration, as well as offering food gift cards. Additionally, they facilitated online support groups for all family members. I am extremely grateful for the support we received and am motivated to walk 100km this month.

Walk for William

Monday 5th May
I am close to reaching the halfway point of 100km, having walked 43km in 5 days, and our team has already accumulated 130.5km. I appreciate the efforts of my family and friends who are walking for William. The services provided by Redkite were instrumental in supporting my family during William's treatment, alleviating some of the stress associated with this challenging period. Please consider making a donation to support this deserving cause.

Walk for William

Monday 28th Apr
As the first anniversary of my son's treatment draws near, my family and I are committed to walking 100ks in May to pay tribute to William’s extraordinary 2.5-year battle against Cancer.

At just 3.5 years old, William faced the daunting challenge of T-Cell ALL, yet his unshakeable spirit and capacity to uplift those around him left an indelible mark.

We invite you to support our Walk for William, a testament to the transformative power of courage and hope.
